Cassandra Monique Batie, professionally known as Andra day is an American R&B singer-songwriter. She has won the Grammy Award, Children's and Family Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award are among her many awards she's received. The singer was also nominated for an Academy Award. Andra Day, a gifted singer-songwriter with roots in gospel music and blues who has a flair for the modern world is more than just an R&B throwback specialist. The ability she has to mix the influences of jazz, gospel, and blues into the R&B genre is remarkable. The debut of her album Cheers to the fall (2015) she broke in to the Top Ten R&B/hip hop charts and was awarded a couple of Grammy nods. In 2017, her contribution to Marshall's score was acknowledged with an Academy Award. Her first appearance was on television series like 666 Park Avenue, Orange Is the New Black and Blue Bloods prior to making her feature film debut in the role of Allyson Nelson, in the film horror series Halloween as well as the sequels.
